Mason says yes to Utah

One of the top JUCO offensive linemen still on the board decided on his home for the next couple years today when El Camino OT Miles Mason (6-4, 300) decided to commit to Utah...

"Honestly, after I got done with my visit to Utah (April 7th - 9th), I was really leaning toward them anyway," Mason told JCFootball.com. "But I had already set up a visit with San Diego State and I wanted to go on that just to see what they had to offer.

"I took that trip on Thursday and got back on Saturday and it surprised me how much I really liked it there and they made it a lot harder than I had expected. In the end though, the biggest reason I chose Utah was because they are going to the Pac 12 and that was the biggest thing.

"If (San Diego State) were in the Pac 12 or if Utah were staying in the Mountain West, then it would have been a lot harder decision to make."

In addition to his offers from the Utes and Aztecs, Mason also held offers from SMU, Florida International, New Mexico and Utah State.

Mason will be plugged in almost immediately at one of the tackle spots for the Utes, but still has some classes to finish before he can sign.

"I have an online class to finish up, plus my courses at El Camino," Mason said. "I'll finish those up next month and then, as long as I do what I'm supposed to do, I will sign with (Utah) and enroll there in June."

Mason will have two years to play two once he arrives in Salt Lake City.
