Johnson totes the rock for Pierce

L.A. Pierce RB Josh Johnson (5-10, 190) had a solid freshman campaign for the Brahmas and so far his talent along with his productivity has netted him quite a bit of interest from some four-year schools. JCFootball.com caught up with the talented runner recently and he updated us on things including what brought him from New Jersey to the City of Angels...

"I went to Haddon Heights in Lawnside (NJ)," Johnson told JCFootball.com recently. "I couldn't get my SAT score where I needed it to be so I was looking for a JC and I knew a few guys who had gone out there and it felt like the right move for me."

As a freshman last fall, Johnson put up solid numbers posting nearly 500 and three touchdowns while playing a backup role, but this yeah he plans on playing a much bigger role.

"I'm a runner who can do it all," Johnson said. "I have good vision and I make people miss in the open field, but I also break a lot of tackles so I can run with power and I'm fast enough to get outside and run away from people too."

On the recruiting front, four-year schools from all over have made contact and let him know that he has their attention.

"Arizona State, Utah, Rutgers, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Arizona and Oregon State are all recruiting me," Johnson noted. "I'm going up to UCLA to see them with Gerald Bowman and Jake Minster on Monday just to check things out and meet with the coaches up there.

"I'd say of the schools recruiting me, Oregon State, Utah and UCLA are recruiting me the hardest, but I don't have any offers yet."

Johnson is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
