Carlisle will play for Coffeyville in 2011

After enjoying a solid freshman season with Butler in 2010, LB Michael Carlisle (6-0, 215) made the decision to transfer to Coffeyville and this fall he will play for the Red Ravens with the hope that what he shows on the field will earn him some attention from FBS schools...

"I just wanted to get over here to Coffeyville," Carlisle told "I just didn't feel it was the right fit at Butler anymore, so I decided to move and I'll be starting there in August when I report for camp."

As a freshman at Butler last fall, Carlisle played quite a bit posting 50 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, one sack and one fumble recovery from his outside linebacker spot.

"I'm more of a run-stopper," Carlisle said. "I read plays well and I'm a sure-tackler when I get there.

"I want to get my pass-drops down and just get smoother into them. I have 4.6 speed, so I have the speed to do well in coverage, but it wasn't something I was really good at so it's been a focus for me this offseason."

Recruiting has been steady for Carlisle even through his transition and he said an SEC school could be getting close to offering

"Kentucky really likes me a lot and said they are getting close to making a decision on whether to offer me or not," Carlisle said. "I also have heard a lot from LSU, BYU, South Florida and Toledo."

Carlisle is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two wherver he ends up.
