Bowman is starting to think about visits

One of the most sought-after JUCO players in the country has started to think about which schools he will officially visit and L.A. Pierce S Gerald Bowman (6-1, 215) spoke with JCFootball.com recently to give us an update on where things stand and which three schools he knows will get a trip out of him this fall...

First off, Bowman has double-digit offers from the likes of Arizona, Arizona State, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Oregon, Oregon State, South Florida, Tennessee, UCLA, USC, Utah and Washington and the interest doesn't stop there.

"I have Miami and Oklahoma looking at me hard and I've been told by both Penn State and Pittsburgh that they are going to offer me, but I'm not calling them as offers yet because it isn't really official or anything," Bowman told JCFootball.com recently. "I have a bunch of schools interested and some really great choices, so I'm starting to look at which schools I want to visit and check out a little bit more."

Three schools have made it to the stage where Bowman is sure he will take a visit to them while three others are in the running for a visit, at least at this point.

"I know I'm going to visit Cal, ASU and USC," Bowman said. "I've already visited all of them this spring and summer, so I have a good feel for their programs, but I want to get up to see a game or something and just get a real feel for what it's like to be a player there.

"The other three schools who I really like and am looking at really close right now are Nebraska, Oklahoma and Miami and I'm thinking about visiting them, but I'm still thinking about that so I'm not sure if they will get visits or not."

Bowman also took the time to break down why he likes the three Pac 12 schools and what has made them stick out so far...

USC - "They have a great tradition and they were one of the first schools to really pursue me. They have some great coaches there and when I visited there I got to meet with coach (Lane) Kiffin and Monte Kiffin who is the defensive coordinator up there. They have a lot of experience and I love the program."

Arizona State - "They have really been persistent and genuine with me. They tell me they want me and need me and I've heard that from a lot of schools, but when the ASU coaches tell me that, I really feel like it's genuine and I really respect that about them."

California - "The reason I like Cal so much is because of coach (Tosh) Lupoi. I just really respect him and feel really comfortable with him. They are also the number one public school in the country, so they have great academics and that's something that is important to me. A degree from there really speaks for itself and they've put a lot of talent in the NFL lately so I know I'd be in good hands there."

We'll continue to keep track of Bowman's progress and when he begins to set up his official visits we will have that information up as quickly as possible.
