2011 Team Preview: Victor Valley

This year, Victor Valley has several top prospects to keep an eye on as they try to rebound from a 2-8 record and head coach Dave Hoover and his staff have some very nice prospects to build around. JCFootball.com takes a look at the top players to keep an eye on and what to expect from them this fall...

This year the Rams return 9 starters (4 on offense; 5 on defense) and leading the attack will be QB Jemeryn Jenkins, a Sacramento State bounceback, who can be a threat with both his arm and his legs.

When they want to run the ball, RB Michael Boydston will use his 5'11", 200-pound frame to run between the tackles and move the chains.

When Jenkins drops back, he will have T.J. Gretzner, the top returning wideout from 2010, and Ryan Patterson outside to throw to.

Gretzner hauled in 22 receptions for 374 yards and one touchdown last year and was the leader in all three categories as the Rams struggled to throw the ball in 2010.

Up front, a young line is led by Matt Hollen who will be at one of the tackle spots.

On defense, the Rams have two very talented linemen, although one can play some linebacker too.

Kenny Mack is talented enough to play both inside or outside and with his 6'3", 315-pound frame, he could end up being and ideal three-technique at the next level.

Outside, Daniel Holland can be a standup edge-rusher or even play some linebacker using his 4.45 speed to make plays all over the field.

Mack was named All-State as a freshman in 2010 and Holland has already gotten some notice as one of the top returning defensive players in the state this fall.

The linebackers are young, but the secondary boasts one of the top player in the country in S Anton Stallworth who led the Rams with 82 tackles and finished second with 4 interceptions.

Stallworth earned All-League honors as well as All-State recognition for his efforts and should be one of the more highly recruited JUCO players in the country this fall.

Victor Valley got off to a rough start this year losing 51-24 to Mt. San Antonio last weekend and this week doesn't get much easier as they will play host to Santa Ana on Saturday.
