2011 Team Preview: Hartnell

Hartnell isn't known as producing a lot of top D-1 talent, however things are changing. Head coach Matt Collins and his staff enter their fourth season encouraged by the players they have on their roster and several already have offers from D-1 schools so, with that in mind, here is a look at some of the top players on the Panthers' roster and what to expect from the program this fall...

Hartnell returns 11 starters (7 on offense; 4 on defense) from last year's squad that went 2-8, but was very competitive throughout the season.

Under center this season will be Austen Fales who completed nearly 70% of his passes for 1,096 yards, 7 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

Fales already has an offer from Central Connecticut State and more could be on the way if he gets off to a fast start this season.

After posting over 800 yards and 10 touchdowns rushing last faul, Alvin Jelks returns with his slashing style.

WR Todd Bush, who doubles as a quarterback as well, adds his long frame to the receiver corps while Darrion Griffith has outstanding quickness and hands out of the slot.

Up front, Hartnell has a couple of top prospects with offers -- T Mike Milovale and C Nick Nunez -- and several youngsters to keep an eye on.

Along the defensive line, the Panthers have Julian Mirasol and Barabbas Chambers who can play almost anywhere along the line and freshman DT Anthony McKay who the coaches are very excited about.

John Andrus and Anthony Rice are the top linebacker prospects on the roster and in the deep patrol, Carroll Washington can play almost anywhere.

Washington is also a dangerous return-man and could be a difference-maker this fall.

Hartnell will travel to face Mendocino College this weekend to start their season.
