2011 Team Preview: Moorpark

Moorpark head coach Jim Bittner has quite a bit of returning talent from last year's 7-4 squad, but he also has several new players to keep an eye on as well. JCFootball.com takes a look at the Raiders' roster and some of the top prospects to watch this fall...

Moorpark returns eight starters (1 on offense; 7 on defense) from last year's squad and the man at the helm of the Raiders' offensive attack is Nick Owens who can make pretty much all of the throws.

When he drops back, Owens will have several players to target, but youngster Donnel Robinson, who greyshirted in 2010, as well as Caesar Fermin and Keith Willams to throw to.

Arthur Burns, a Washington State bounceback, will get some carries at running back and with his physical style of play, he could be a player that puts up big numbers this fall.

Along the offensive line, the Raiders are young, but they boast some talent at the guard spots in Travis Raphael and Brendan Mitchell, two redshirt freshmen who could possibly leave following the season.

Defensively, the Raiders have several D-1 prospects who teams are already after and two are located along the defensive line in ends Quentin Kantaris and Garret Mallone.

They also have Eddie McGilvra plugging things inside and Cory Elmore who can play both inside and outside, depending on the need or formation.

At linebacker, Connor Benado mans the middle and is the "quarterack" of the defense.

In the secondary, corners Victor Fermin and Marquise Mouton, who had a great offseason, are both lock-down guys while Joey Eckert is the free safety in the deep patrol.

Moorpark is off to a 1-1 start after trouncing L.A. Pierce on Saturday. This weekend they will take on Allan Hancock on the road.
