2011 Team Preview: El Camino

This year, El Camino is poised to get themselves back in the race for a state championship with a boatload of talent on both sides of the ball. JCFootball.com takes a look at some of the top players on the Warriors' roster and what to expect from them this fall...


QB Omar Herrera - Returning starter. Threw for 1,880 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2010. Completed 66.5% of his passes with a 157 efficiency rating.

RB Peter Walton - Rushed for 716 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2010.

RB Alondra Johnson - Ran for 250 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2010 as a back-up. Has started well this season. Is short, but very powerful and has a slashing style.

TE Mike Miller - A great blocker who can be a solid receiver when called upon.

WR Jarred Shaw - Plays out of the slot and is off to a great start with eight receptions for 100 yards and two touchdowns to start the 2011 season.

WR Luckner Brady - Super-fast freshman wideout who will have an impact sooner rather than later. Runs a legit 4.3 forty.

WR Jahrie Level - Another speedy freshman, but has great size to boot.

WR Kenneth Holmes - Will make his name out of the slot. Quick and speedy as well.

OT Willaim Goldberg - An athletic line prospect who is getting stronger.

OG Andrew Brenner - The El Camino coaches love his potential.

OT/OG Perry Meikeljohn - A Central Florida bounceback who could play four of the five line positions.

Sean O'Neil - Not big, but has good strength and is smart.

Other offensive players to keep an eye on: RB Ricky Johnson, TE/WR (flex) Dominic Bierra, OT Kelvin McCoy, OG Charles Franklin and OG Matthew Kimbrough.


DT Jordon Tavai - Good size and strength. Has outstanding quickness as well. Posted 30 tackles and 4 sacks in 2010.

NT Marques Johnson - Can take up blockers and is explosive enough to make plays down the line. Had 37 tackles and 4 sacks in 2010.

DE Tim Eingher - Quick off the ball. One to watch.

DE Brandon Johnson - Transferred from Georgia Military College. Could play inside or outside in different schemes.

DE Kyle Bailey - Is quick for a man his size. Transferred from Pasadena CC.

OLB Kellen Lockwood - Athletic and can play in space.

MLB Dereck Largent - The coaches love his physical style of play. Off to a great start this season with 12 tackles in two games.

OLB Ivan McClennon - Athletically gifted and smart. Reads and reacts well. Leading the team in tackles with 17 in two games so far in 2011.

S Royce Lewis - Comes from great bloodlines. Brother Roy played for Washington and currently plays for the Seattle Seahawks. Quick and athletic. Posted 46 tackles and had two touchdowns on defense in 2010.

S Junior Kavienga - Loves to hit. Is very physical and smart. Posted 33 tackles, 5 sacks, 5 tackles-for-loss and 1 interception that he returned for a touchdown in 2010.

CB Darious Lane - Is a physical playmaker at corner. Posted 33 tackles, 5 pass deflections and 3 blocked field goals in 2010.

Other defensive players to keep an eye on:CB Vincent Steward, CB Anthony Harris, CB Khalid Marshall, S Donald West, MLB Austin Johnson, OLB Antwan Darling, OLB Ronald Stovall, DE Jabari Mathieu, DT Utoikamanu Sekona and NT Dario Lazano, P Robert Thompson and K Donald Jarrin.
