JCFootball.com: Top Defensive Backs (Updated)

JCFootball.com continues it's look around the country at some of the top performers at each position and today we take a look at a few of the top JUCO defensive backs and how they've fared so far this season...

San Mateo S Bryant Hayes - The freshman DB had a huge game for the Bulldogs in a 61-0 win over Los Medanos, posting 10 tackles and an interception. This season he's totaled 30 tackles and three interceptions and has been a steadying force in the secondary for CSM.

Cerritos S Chris Metcalf - One of the best athletes at his position in the JUCO ranks, Metcalf has made the loss of All-American Keith McGill to graduation less of an issue. So far, Metcalf has posted 24 tackles and one interception for the Falcons.

Tyler CB Richard Lyles - In four games, Lyles has posted 24 tackles and two interceptions for the Apaches.

Arizona Western CB Josh Brown - The talented DB has 11 tackles and one interception for the undefeated Matadors this season.

Copiah-Lincoln CB Dehendret Collins - Collins has been the lock-down corner for the Wolfpack posting 28 tackles and seven passes defensed in six games this season.

Copiah-Lincoln S Tevin Thomas - Thomas leads the Wolfpack in tackles with 55 and also has forced three fumbles, recovered one fumble and has one sack as well.

Dodge City S Chris Lipscomb - The physically imposing Lipscomb has really been a godsend to the Dodge City defense this year and he leads the KJCCC in tackles with 76 in five games.

Lackawanna S Antonio Owah - Owah ranks third on the falcons in tackles with 30 and also has two sacks and six passes defensed from his strong safety spot.

Dean DB Charles Watson - Watson plays mostly outside linebacker, but at 5'10", 195 pounds he's probably better suited for safety at the next level. While he might not be very big, there is no questioning his instincts or his ability to tackle as he's posted a team-leading 46 tackles in five games for the 4-1 Bulldogs.

Foothill S Scott Arellano - Arrellano has been a real ballhawk for the Panthers this season totaling four interceptions to go along with his 19 tackles.

Northwest Mississippi CB Frankie Lee - The diminutive Lee plays much bigger than his listed 5'9", 175 pound frame would indicate, posting 29 tackles to go along with a MACJC-leading five interceptions.

Itawamba CB Ashton Ballard - Ballard has been a lockdown corner for Itawamba this fall and has been deadly to opposing quarterbacks, posting four interceptions to go along with 20 tackles and double-digit passes defensed.
