JCFootball.com: Top Defensive Backs (Updated)

As we head into post-season play, some JUCO defensive backs have really shown what they can do this season. JCFootball.com takes a look at just a few of them in today's look at the top prospects in the country at each position...

Louisburg S CB Kewitt Koonce - The talented DB has been outstanding this season for the Hurricanes, leading the nation with 11 interceptions to go along with 22 passes defensed and 38 tackles for a team that went 7-3.


Feather River CB Alex Irvin - The freshman DB has shown off his ball-hawking skills all season and leads the state of California in interceptions with eight, returning one for a touchdown, while also posting 16 passes defensed and 35 tackles for the Golden Eagles.


Shasta S Mark Brooks - Brooks has been solid this season for the Knights, posting six interceptions, good for second in the state so far, returning one for a touchdown, while also racking up 31 tackles and 14 passes defensed.


Riverside S Chris Gonzalez - Gonzales might not be the biggest DB out on the field, but he's been a huge contributor for the Tigers so far this season tying for second in the state with six interceptions to go along with 22 tackles and eight passes defensed.


Los Angeles Valley CB Kalan Booker - Booker has really stepped up during his sophomore season for the Monarchs, posting six interceptions to go along with a team-leading 51 tackles and eight passes defensed.


Citrus S Rodney Frederick-Mathews - Frederick-Mathews has been a real find for the Citrus coaches this season. As a freshman, Frederick-Mathews has totaled 63 tackles, five interceptions and nine passes defensed from his center-field position.


Hinds S Adonis Armstrong - Armstrong has had a big season or the Eagles this year, finishing with seven interceptions, 70 tackles, 17 passes defensed and a sack from his cornerback position.


Fort Scott CB Kevin Short - Short is a big corner who can match up physically with big wideouts and he's used his size and strength to post 47 tackles, five interceptions and three passes defensed for the Greyhounds this season.


Iowa Western S Drake Ferch - Ferch had a strong season for the Reivers posting 31 tackles and five interceptions while helping to lead them to a 8-2 record.


Tyler S Billy Thompkins - Thompkins has been outstanding for the 7-3 Apaches this season, racking up a team leading 63 tackles to go along with three interceptions from his safety spot.
