Iowa Western DE to the MAC

This season, one of the top JUCO edge-rushers in the country was Iowa Western DE (6-3, 240) and this past weekend he visited a MAC school and decided he'd seen enough and committed while he was on his trip...

"I committed to Ohio this weekend," Branz told "It was how I got along with the coaches and the players. I fit in real well with them and I liked their brand of defense because it's real similar to what we run (at Iowa Western).

"I had offers from some D-1AA schools and I thought they were great programs, but I wanted to play at the highest level I could and I want to be challenged and playing in the MAC will do that for me."

Besides his offer from Ohio, Branz also had offers from the likes of Southeast Missouri, North Dakota, Northern Colorado, Northwest Missouri State and was getting heavy interest from other MAC and Mountain West programs.

As a redshirt freshman in 2010, Branz posted 28 tackles and 3.5 sacks, but this season he was a monster off the edge for the Reivers, racking up 44 tackles and 11 sacks.

Branz will sign his letter-of-intent on December 21st and will have two years to play two the moment he steps on campus.
