Butte's Patrick Hughes remaining patient

A JUCO prospect proving to be a hot commodity so far this winter has been Butte C Patrick Hughes (6-4, 285) and he's received offers from several programs and he could be setting up visits in the very near future...

Hughes prepped at Morgan Park (Il.) High School and spent a year at Kentucky Christian College before heading to Butte to see about earning a scholarship to an FBS program.

This season, Hughes handled the pivot well for the Roadrunners who finished the season 10-1 while amassing 457 total yards and 43.1 points per game while surrendering just 20 sacks while dropping back 302 times.

"California JC football is the best in the country and I wanted to be part of it," Hughes told JCFootball.com recently. "I knew if I did well up here at Butte, I could get moved on to another school pretty easily."

So far that opinion appears to be prophetic as he's received offers from several D-1 football programs.

"I have offers from Hawaii, Northern Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Bethune Cookman, Texas State, North Carolina Central and Savannah State," Hughes said. "I was hoping to visit Hawaii, but with the coaches being let go, I don't know what's up with that right now.

"I will probably take some visits after the start of the year and then just see where I fit in best and what is the best opportunity for me."

Hughes will graduate in May and will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
