Top JUCO wideout is down to three

Mt. San Antonio WR Alonzo Agwuenu (6-4, 210) has narrowed his list of schools to three and said he hopes to make a decision on Wednesday, the first day he can sign in the mid-year JUCO signing period. The talented wideout took the time to speak with and he filled us in on why each of his top schools made the list and his thoughts on making a decision this week...

"I've narrowed things down to three schools - Arizona State, Kentucky and Oregon State," Agwuenu told "I visited Kentucky last weekend and I visited Oregon State the first weekend of the December, but I haven't visited Arizona State yet because the coaches just got there and it's the dead period now."

Because those three schools are the ones he will decide between, Agwuenu took the time to list why each one made the list...

Arizona State - "It's a whole new staff and I was offered by the old staff, but I've talked to the new coaches and they still want me and I really like them a lot. They lose most of their wideouts from last year, so I know I can come in and play and challenge for playing time. What puts them in a little in the lead is that I've always been an ASU fan and I love the school there and their program."

Oregon State - "My cousin (Obum Gwacham) goes there and he likes it a lot. I love the staff there too. They are great and I really had a great time there on my visit."

Kentucky - "I just visited there last weekend and I had a great time there. The fact they are in the SEC and that says a lot about them and the competition they face every week. Their fans are crazy. We went to a basketball game there and their fans were nuts, so if that's what football games are like, then it would be crazy there."

Agwuenu was one of the top wideouts in the state of California this past year, totaling 73 receptions for 1,125 yards and 19 touchdowns including three in the state championship game in which the Mounties lost to City College of San Francisco.

Agwuenu said he hopes to make a decision at some point tomorrow and sign with a school, but also said he could delay things and sign later in the signing period which ends on January 4th.

We will have more from Agwuenu as he readies himself to make his decision.
