Martin down to three

One of the top JUCO middle linebacker prospects in the country this year was Arizona Western's Steffon Martin (6-2, 235) and he's narrowed his list of finalists to three schools. JCFootball.com spoke to him recently and he gave his thoughts on each one and also gave us a feeling for when we can expect a decision...

"I have one more visit left before I get closer to making my decision," Martin told JCFootball.com recently. "I've already visited Indiana (12/9), Ohio State (11/19) and Arkansas (12/16) and I'm visiting Texas A&M the first weekend of January when you can visit (13th).

"After that, I will come back and sit down and make my decision. Then I will sign with whoever I commit to on February 1st, so I need to make my decision pretty quickly."

In addition to revealing when his decision will be made, Martin also took the time to share his thoughts on his final three...

Arkansas - "I really like the coaches there and it's got a pretty close proximity to my home (Indianapolis). You also have to love the level of competition in the SEC every week, so that's another great thing about them."

Indiana - "It's close to home and I've gotten pretty close to the coaches there. The program is coming around and I feel like they are rising."

Texas A&M - "They're moving to the SEC so the level of competition is a big thing and they have some new coaches coming in, so that will be interesting to get to know them a little more and see what their philosophies are."

Martin will enroll at a school this summer and will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.

We will have more from Martin in the future as he gets closer to making his decision.
