Wishom still flying under-the-radar

With a National Championship under his belt, CCSF S Blair Wishom (6-1, 200) has turned his focus toward recruiting and this month could end up being a busy one. JCFootball.com caught up with the talented defensive back recently and he updated us on where things currently stand...

"It was a great season overall for us," Wishom said recently. "We won the championship and we played well as a team and I had a good year, personally, as well."

This season Wishom posted 59 tackles, 7.5 tackles-for-loss, one interception and 14 passes defensed from his safety spot.

"Our safeties are pretty much all interchangeable, so I played up in the box and some deep," Wishom said. "I feel I do both well and this year I covered a lot, mostly over the slot, but we played a lot of man-to-man so that was something I had to do all the time."

On the recruiting front, Wishom remains under-the-radar and only has one offer, but things could pick up before Signing Day on February 1st.

"As of right now, my one offer is from Northern Arizona and I'm visiting there on the 20th (of January)," Wishom said. "Illinois and Kansas State have been picking things up recruiting-wise, but right now, they are just talking to me."

Wishom prepped at De La Salle High School in Conford, Ca. and after playing at one of the top High School programs in the country, he decided to head to one of the top JUCO programs in the country.

"I was a late qualifier because I wasn't able to get the SAT score I needed with my GPA," Wishom said. "I had a bunch of family members come to City, not to play, just as students, and I liked the coaches and figured they are the best and I wanted to face the best competition every week."

Wishom will graduate in May and he will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
