Berroa is back and looking for a home

Following the 2011 football season, L.A. Pierce DE Ricky Berroa (6-3, 255) had a couple of offers that he was considering, however a family emergency back necessitated that he put the recruiting process on hold and now that he's back, he's hoping to make a decision sooner, rather than later...

"My grandma got sick and I had to leave for two months back to the Dominican Republic," Berroa told JCFootball.com. "While I was down there, I had to put things on hold because I was supposed to be a mid-year guy, but because I'm not going to be a mid-year now, some schools have sorta dropped out because I couldn't really get calls down there.

"Now that I'm back I wanted to make sure everyone knows that I'm available still and things are open for me right now."

With three days until National Signing Day (February 1st), Berroa has three schools that he's considering offers from -- Bethune-Cookman, Northern Arizona and Wagner -- but he also hopes more come into the picture.

"I obviously still need to take some visits, so there's still time if schools want to recruit me," Berroa said.

As a defensive end for the Brahmas this past season, Berroa totaled 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss and a sack while rotating in at both defensive end positions in the six games he played.

He will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
