Baty headed to Kansas

One of the top JUCO signal-callers available has made his decision and CCSF's Turner Baty (6-3, 215) couldn't be happier. This past weekend he took a visit to Lawrence, Kansas and after returning home and talking things over with his family, he decided he wanted to commit to the Jayhawks...

"I visited there this weekend and I had a great, great time there," Baty told Monday night. "Brandon Bourbon was my host and I had a great time with him. He was really awesome."

Baty said that Penn State and Auburn had made strong pushes on him recently, but when he got the offer from Kansas, he decided to take a visit this weekend and he said even with the presence of transfers Dayne Crist and Jake Heaps he's excited for the opportunity.

"The great thing about coach (Charlie) Weis and coach (Ron) Powlus is they aren't going to BS you," Baty said. "They are going to be straight with you and they said they don't care what you did before, they want to see you on the field, competing and they will play the best player because they want to win.

"I'm just real excited to be at a program on the rise. They are building this thing back to where Kansas should be and I'm excited to be competing to be the quarterback at that type of a program and with that type of a mindset."

Baty led CCSF to a perfect 12-0 season and the National Championship in 2011 by completing 64% of his passes for 3,149 yards and 35 touchdowns with only seven interceptions while also rushing for 300 yards and seven more scores.

He will sign his letter-of-intent on Wednesday and he plans to enroll for summer school on June 7th.

Once he steps foot on campus he will have four years to play three.
