Navarro's Calhoun has five early offers

As we get ready to head into the spring evaluation period, five schools have already seen enough of Navarro OT Aleon Calhoun (6-6, 345) to extend him an offer, making him one of the top JUCO offensive line prospects in the country...

Calhoun prepped at Navasota (Tx.) High School and he signed with Texas Tech, however, he was unable to graduate so he had to go the JC route.

"I had good grades, but I wasn't able to pass the test you had to pass to graduate for the state of Texas," Calhoun admitted to JCFootball.com. "I had to go get my GED and then I headed here to Navarro which was the best place for me."

As a freshman last season, Calhoun started at left tackle for the Bulldogs and with his size, footwork and athleticism, schools have already begun to offer.

"Right now I have five offers and a lot of schools are looking at me," Calhoun said. "I have offers from Florida State, Houston, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State and Florida International and I have schools from all over looking at me."

As far as when he wants to make a decision, Calhoun admits he isn't close, but he does know when he wants to commit.

"After we play a couple of games, I'll probably be ready to make a decision," Calhoun noted. "That way I can take a couple of official visits and know more about the schools I'm choosing between.

"I'm going to try and get out and take some unofficial visits this spring to different schools, but I'm not sure right now. We'll see. I have a while before I really need to be ready to decide."

Calhoun is on pace to graduate in May and he will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.

We will have more in the coming weeks and months and update news on Calhoun as it happens.
