Foothill OT is a player to keep an eye on

Four-year schools are always looking for big, athletic offensive tackles to hold the edge against the top pass-rushers being thrown at them on a weekly basis and Foothill OT Braxton Isaac (6-5, 285) is just such a player. JCFootball.com caught up with the talented prospect recently and he updated us on which schools he's heard from as well as what he does well on the field...

Isaac enjoyed a solid prep career at Ridge High School in Davenport, Florida. When it became obvious he wouldn't qualify, he decided to make the trek west to get a fresh start.

"There aren't any JC programs in Florida and when I was looking at things, I thought coming to California was the best for me because of the great competition and because I could just get away and focus on school and football," Isaac told JCFootball.com recently. "I've been real happy here and I feel like it's getting me ready for the future."

As a freshman during the 2011 season, Isaac played both the right and left tackle positions and he said that he's ready to take on that role this coming fall as well.

"I'm an athletic tackle," Isaac noted. "I can play on both sides and I feel like I'm pretty balanced, but if I had to choose one, I'd say I'm probably better at pass-blocking, but my run-blocking is really good too.

"This offseason I'm working on my footwork and my muscle-memory. I want to improve in every area though. You have to keep striving to get better."

On the recruiting front, schools have started show Isaac a modicum of interest, but more are expected to take notice in the coming months.

"Right now the two schools that I've personally talked to are Arkansas State and San Jose State," Isaac said. "My coaches have told me other schools are asking about me and for my transcripts and stuff, but I haven't talked to them yet.

"This spring I've heard from my coaches that a lot of schools will come in and talk to me and that is when I can show them what I can do."

Isaac is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
