Dean's Burlingam talks recruiting

A JUCO defensive lineman who has already corralled two early offers is Dean DT Lance Burlingame (6-5, 290) and JCFootball.com recently caught up with the talented prospect and he updated us on where things stand...

With his impressive size and 4.7 speed to go along with his solid productivity as a freshman this past fall -- 28 tackles and seven tackles-for-loss -- Burlingame is an attractive prospect to keep an eye on this year and three schools have already showed him how impressed they are.

"Right now I have three offers -- Purdue, Florida Atlantic and UNC-Charlotte," Burlingame told JCFootball.com recently. "My coaches are the ones handling a lot of my recruiting right now, so they know most of the schools that are recruiting me, but I guess a bunch have been asking about me and I think a lot of them are going to be through here during the spring."

Burlingam prepped at New Bedford (Ma.) High School and was recruited by several FCS programs including Maine, U-Mass and New Hampshire but eventually he figured out he wasn't going to qualify.

"I wanted to stay close to home, but I wanted to get out on my own too," Burlingame said. "This was close enough to home that I didn't have to worry about it as much.

"When I look for a school that I'm going to end up at though, I'm looking to go south if I can. I want a place where it's warmer, but if my best option is up north, then I'll be happy playing up north."

Burlingame said he hopes to graduate in December, but he noted that he will be done no later than spring of 2013.

"I'm working on my classes and with my counselors to make sure I'm getting all of the classes I need," Burlingame said. "I'm for sure going to be done next spring, but I'm hoping to be done in December. I just need to make sure I have enough credits and classes to graduate."

Wherever he ends up Burlingame will have three years to play two following the 2012 football season.
