Riverside's Seydel is legit

One of he top JUCO offensive lineman in the state of California this year is Riverside OT Jacob Seydel (6-6, 285) and after a year of adding size and gaining strength, the talented prospect hopes he's done enough to earn a scholarship to an FBS program...

After graduating from Arlington (Ca.) High School, Seydel had some opportunities to play for a four-year program, but decided to head to Riverside, hoping to garner more opportunities.

"Coming out of high school, I weighed about 230, maybe 240 max, and no one was really giving me much attention,' Seydel told JCFootball.com recently. "I had a few D-2 offers, but my coaches advised me to go to a JC program so I could get stronger, add some size and just develop a little more and Riverside was a great program and I felt like I could do what I needed to do here and get looks from bigger schools if I did well."

So far that appears to have paid off as Seydel started all but the first three games for the Tigers at right tackle and now he's started to see recruiting begin to take off.

"Right now Colorado is the school that is sending me the most stuff, but my coaches have talked a lot with Purdue about me I guess," Seydel noted. "I am hoping that during spring ball I get more attention and schools offer me.

"I've been working really hard this offseason at getting stronger and I've put on a lot of good size and weight, so hopefully it all works out."

Seydel was a full-qualifier out of high school, so he plans to play this season at Riverside and sign with a program in December. He will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
