Offer Update - Contra Costa

The Contra Costa Comets have seen a surge of big-time schools come through this spring and several have offered a few of their top prospects. Here's a look at who has been offered by which schools and head coach Alonzo Carter gave us the scoop on who is close to seeing offers come in...

OT Desmond Harrison - One of the top JUCO line prospects on the board this year, Harrison has freakish athleticism for a man that is 6'8", 320 pounds. Harrison currently has offers from Arizona State, Boise State, Fresno State, Kansas, Maryland, Ole Miss, North Carolina State, Purdue, Rutgers, San Diego State, San Jose State, Texas Tech and Washington. Harrison has schools like Washington State, Oregon, Miami and USC looking at him and could join the fray in the very near future.

DE Demetrius Cherry - Huge defensive end prospect who signed with North Carolina State out of high school. Last season, Cherry notched 26 tackles, 8.5 tackles-for-loss and 4.5 sacks. He can fit well in almost any scheme, but would be ideal in a 3-4 front where he can use his size, strength and explosiveness to get pressure off the edge. So far, Cherry has offers from Arizona State, Fresno State, Maryland, North Carolina State, Purdue and San Jose State. USC, Oregon and Miami are all close to offering as well.

OT Damien Perris - Because of the presence of Harrison, most schools haven't noticed Perris, but have started to come along and he currently has offers from Arizona State, Fresno State and San Diego State and is getting heavy interest from Kansas, Texas Tech and UCLA. He could play almost anywhere along the offensive line due to his size, speed, agility and strength.

LB Eriquel Florence - The talented linebacker still just has one offer, from Arizona State, but he's got quite a few other schools eyeing his talents including Oregon State and USC. As a freshman last season, Florence posted 30 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss, one sack and one interception.

DE/LB Antoine Davis - Saw limited reps as a freshman, but is an outstanding hybrid defensive end/linebacker prospect. Davis totaled 10 tackles 4.5 tackles-for-loss and two sacks as a freshman last season. He's an outstanding athlete with long arms and an explosive first step. He currently doesn't hold an offer, but is getting interest from Washington, Fresno State, San Diego State, Oregon and California.

WR Ronald Butler - Carter believes that Butler's recruitment will explode in the very near future. Several schools have asked about him and his legit 4.4 speed. Last season, Butler finished second on the team with 19 receptions for 448 yards and two touchdowns.

QB Lamar McKnight - McKnight took a back seat to starter Jeffery Anderson, but this year the reigns of the Comets' attack are in his hands. He will have a lot of weapons at his disposal and at 6'3", 195 pounds and possessing outstanding athleticism and strength, he could be poised for a breakout season this fall.

WR Phadrae White - Another talented wideout who uses his outstanding leaping ability and explosiveness to get open down the field. Last season, White posted 14 receptions for 159 yards and two scores.
