DeAnza DT has the look of a top prospect

If you're looking for a big-time run-stuffer in the middle of your defense, look no further than DeAnza DT/NT Matt Turituri (6-2, 330). The talented prospect has several schools eyeing his talents and he recently updated JCFootball.com about how the offseason is coming along as well as which programs seem to be the most interested in what he can do...

Turituri prepped at Wilcox High School in Santa Clara, Ca. and was unable to qualify, so he decided to stick close to home and sign with DeAnza.

"It was close to home and the coaches there showed me they wanted me," Turituri told JCFootball.com. "They also showed me how good a program they had here. I thought it was the best move for me."

As a freshman this past fall, Turituri was the rock in the middle for the Dons, posting 31 tackles, five tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks, using his size as well as his quick first step to cause a lot of problems for opposing offensive linemen.

"I started every game at nose tackle for us," Turituri noted. "I feel like I can stop the run or rush the quaterback equally. I'm used to playing against the big boys every day, so it's been pretty easy for me to get used to doing what I was asked to do."

While Turituri has yet to see an offer roll in, he says that several schools were by this spring to get a look at him and they have let him know they think he could fit into their systems pretty easily.

"So far, it's basically been Colorado, UNLV, Utah State and Northern Arizona that came by and talked to me," Turituri said. "I don't have an offer yet, but they seem to like me. We'll see what happens."

Turituri is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2012 football season.
