Swaim headed to Texas

Butte TE Geoff Swaim (6-5, 250) visited Austin, Texas over the weekend and, after receiving an offer, decided to commit to the Texas Longhorns and will join them after the 2012 football season...

"Geoff had a great time down there and committed to Texas today," Butte offensive coordinator Robbie Snelling told JCFootball.com. "He's a bigger guy, about 6-5, 250 and we used him a lot as a blocker this past season.

"He'll do well there. He's athletic and he's strong so he can do multiple things well."

As a freshman this past season in Butte's pro-style scheme, Swaim took a back seat to Middle Tennessee bound Jeff Corbaly, hauling in just five receptions for 23 yards, but the expectation is he will put up much bigger numbers this fall as the starter.

Swaim will sign with Texas in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2012 football season.

JCFootball.com will have more after speaking with Swaim later today.
