Bibbs makes his decision

Arizona Western TE Emmanuel Bibbs (6-3, 245) saw recruiting hit a fever pitch during the spring and recently, after considering things, he decided to commit to Iowa State and plans to sign with the Cyclones in December...

According to Arizona Western head coach Tom Minnick, Bibbs chose Iowa State over offers from Arkansas, Memphis, Western Michigan, Northern Iowa, San Diego State and Texas Tech and he was getting heavy interest from schools like Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arizona State and Boise State among others.

As a freshman for Matadors last fall, Bibbs wasn't used much only hauling in six receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown, but he said this fall he hopes to be a much bigger presence in the offense.

"There are so many playmakers here on the offense, you have to just work hard and make sure you're ready when your number is called," Bibbs told JCFootball.com back in May. "I really want to be an all-around tight end and my blocking is what I'm really focused on getting to an elite level. I've been working on my strength and my footwork and just getting better in that area.

"I'm still working on my routes, catching passes and on my speed, but my blocking is what I am really working a lot on this offseason."

Bibbs was a standout prep at Bogan High School in Illinois and after signing with Iowa, he redshirted in the fall of 2010, doing his best to add muscle and get ready to the rigors of the college game.

"My high school was a small school in Illinois, so I had a lot of things to work on to get ready to play ball at that level," Bibbs admitted. "I just didn't get it done and struggled when I got there. I needed a fresh start and people said Arizona Western was a great place to come to and get things straight so I did and I'm on pace to be ready to go this December."

Bibbs plans to sign with the Cyclones in December and will have three years to play following the 2012 football season.
