Mesa's Hill has four offers

Mesa S Tigi Hill (6-3, 220) had a solid season individually, even while his team struggled to a 1-10 record. Because of his physicality and instincts, four schools have already extended offers his way and more could be on the way. JCFootball.com spoke to the talented defensive prospect and he updated us on where things currently stand...

"Right now I have offers from Oregon State, Utah, Hawaii and Kansas," Hill told JCFootball.com. "My coach also told me that Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Iowa State have told him they want to offer me, but so far, they haven't actually offered me yet."

As a freshman this past season for Mesa, Hill played more of a Rover position and was involved on quite a few plays, notching 50 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions.

"They walked me down into the box more than asking me to drop into coverage," Hill noted. "I feel real comfortable down there in the box. I love to be physical and I have good instincts.

"One thing I'm working on a lot this offseason is getting in and out of my breaks quicker and just being smoother in coverage. I feel comfortable already, but you can always get better, cut down on steps and stuff."

Hill hails from the Islands and prepped at state-power Kahuku.

"I wasn't able to qualify and the coaches here had some ties to our coaches so when I was ready to make a decision, it was pretty easy," Hill said. "I came here just because I felt really comfortable with them and what I felt like they could do in helping me get ready for the next level."

Hill is on pace to graduate in May of 2013 and said he is considering the possibility of redshirting in order to preserve a year of eligibility.

"I'm going to make that decision as we get closer to camp," Hill said. "I've been on break, so I'm heading back to school this week and then we'll see how I do this summer term. If my grades are where I expect them to be, there is a good chance I will redshirt, but we'll see what happens."

We will continue to keep track of Hill and his progress this summer and will update news as it happens.
