Poole finally gets to be a Ute

Coming out of high school, Saddleback RB James Poole (6-1, 195) had planned to sign with Utah, but he hit a snag when he was unable to qualify, so he went the JUCO route. Recently, things began to heat up for him with the Utes and he decided this Monday that he's ready to realize his dream of playing Pac 12 football...

"I have verbally committed to Utah," a proud Poole told JCFootball.com. "I took an unofficial visit there on June 15th, a couple of Fridays ago, and it was just great.

"They didn't offer while I was there because they had to see if I could get my last class and when they found out I could get it done, they offered and I committed to them."

Poole will finish up his Science class in late July and will sign his letter-of-intent with the Utes on August 1st.

"As long as I get done what I need to get done, then that's when I can sign with them," Poole said. "That's when they start fall camp and that's when I plan to sign."

As a freshman last season, Poole started seven of the Gauchos' 10 games, rushing for 305 yards on the ground and four touchdowns. He also hauled in 23 receptions for 282 yards and two more scores.

Poole greyshirted in 2010, so as long as he is able to enroll at Utah this fall, he will have four years to play three the moment he arrives on campus.
