Team Preview: Georgia Military (Defense)

When four-year schools go looking for top-end JUCO talent, one of their first stops is always Georgia Military College. This year, the Bulldogs are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and today, in part two of our GMC preview, we take a look at the defensive side of the ball and the thoughts of Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator Rob Manchester on each top prospect...

Here's a look at the top prospects on the defensive side of the ball, with some of Manchester's comments on each one...

Defense

DT Octavius Brown - "I feel that the only reason he doesn't have any offers is because he isn't 6'1 or 6'2. He is just a rock inside for us. Last year he played behind Daniel McCullers (Tennessee) and Keon Stowers (Kansas), so this year it's all about him and what he can do for us. In our 3-5-3, we depend on him to be real solid inside and that's what he gives us. He's a really good player."

LB Caleb Clayton-Molby - "He was our middle linebacker this spring out of necessity. He's had some schools looking at him and Florida State wanted him to walk-on, but I think he's going to stick around and see what else he gets. He's a smart football player and he does a really good job inside for us, but he could play outside too."

S Tiquention Coleman - "He can play strong safety for us, he did that last year, but this year he's going to be playing free safety for us. He's a real physical kid and he'll really pop you. He's a guy who can play some man-to-man, but he's better as a true free safety. Right now Marshall and Texas Tech are showing him a lot of interest, but he hasn't gotten an offer just yet."

S/LB Neville Hewitt - "He's another real physical kid. Last year he played our free safety spot, but we figured it would be best to switch him and Tiquention just to get our guys where they fit best. He's really strong at the point of attack. He's just getting bigger and bigger and Marshall has offered him as linebacker."

LB Brandon Golson - "He had a great spring for us. He is a bigger, stronger kid. He's a real asset for us on defense. Brandon can really run, he can blitz, he can drop into coverage, he can do it all. He signed with South Carolina out of high school and he's gotten offered by them again, plus Kansas, Kansas State and Middle Tennessee. More schools are starting to get on him too, so he's one player to keep an eye on in the next month or so before our season gets going."

DE Devon Johnson - "Devon is another guy who had a great spring. He was a backup all of last year, so this year will be when he can prove himself. He's got great speed and athleticism, now he just has to go out and show it in games. He has an offer from UNC-Charlotte and Texas Tech is extremely interested in him."

DB Raynard Reid - "His brother is Greg Reid who starts at Florida State, so he comes from a very talented family. He's a real solid corner and he makes a lot of plays. He's definitely a guy who can play."

CB Chris Sanders - "Chris was at Georgia, but he needed to come here and get his feet back under him academically. He's a tall, physical corner. He's getting things in order and he should have a really solid season for us."

CB Ronnie Martin - "He's a South Carolina placement and we're really excited to have him. He's about 5'11 and 185 pounds and he's fast, but he's also physical. He's going to really help us out this year."
