Young will play at Maryland this fall

Even though he never took a snap at Iowa Western, QB Ricardo Young's performance this spring created enough of a buzz that schools came calling and he decided he wanted to get back closer to home and opted to sign with Maryland and will play for the Terapins this fall...

"I'm actually already enrolled at Maryland right now and I start classes on Monday," Young told JCFootball.com. "I had gone to Iowa Western after being at Virginia Tech and was excited to get the opportunity to play there, but after spring, I made a highlight tape and it was good enough that a lot of schools were offering and after Maryland offered and said they would take me this year, I decided I would take it."

In addition to his offer from the Terapins, Young claims he had offers from Virginia, Vanderbilt, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Clemson, Temple, Connecticut, Ole Miss, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, Virginia, Pitt and Wake Forest among others.

Young noted that a big reason for his decision to sign with Maryland was the proximity to home, but he also said his relationship with the coaches there had a big influence as well.

"I've had a great relationship with the coaches at Maryland for a while," Young said. "It was a really good relationship and I like the atmosphere and the direction of their program. I think their offense fits me perfectly and that was another big reason I decided to sign."

You has three years to play three and said he plans to challenge for playing time as soon as possible.
