McGee hauls in Pac 12 offer

An emerging JUCO corner prospect this summer has been Cerritos CB Domonique McGee (5-11, 191). Recently the physical corner received his first offer and he spoke to to give us the scoop on that as well as what other schools are showing him some interest...

McGee enjoyed a solid prep career at Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, California and he battled against the likes of Robert Woods, Paul Richardson and George Farmer on a daily basis. However, schools seemed to like him on the offensive side of the ball.

"Most of the schools recruiting me liked me on offense because I was a pretty good running back," McGee told recently. "I didn't qualify though so I enrolled at El Camino, but eventually I ended up back here at Cerritos and it was just a better fit for me."

McGee sat out last season with a shoulder injury, but in 2010 he played quite a bit for the Falcons on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

"I played the first five games on offense at running back, but then I switched halfway through the season to corner," McGee said. "It wasn't that big of a deal to switch because I had played both ways in high school, so I had played a lot of corner before.

"Actually, playing offense really helped me be more of a physical corner because as a tailback you have to take on linebackers and defensive ends sometimes when you are blocking so it made me more physical and I can use that on the wide receivers I'm going up against all the time now.

"I'm more physical than they are and I have the speed (4.43) to run with them."

Because of his physical nature and speed, McGee has already garnered a lot of early attention from four-year schools and recently he received his first offer.

"Arizona just offered me, so they are my first one," McGee said. "It was exciting to get that first offer and I really like the coaches there.

"Other than them, I have Utah, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Boise State and a few other schools looking at me."

McGee is on pace to graduate in May and he will have three years to play two following the 2012 football season.
