Bozeman expected to make impact in 2012

Eastern Arizona lost quite a bit of talent in their secondary after the 2011 football season, but one player who returns and is poised for a big 2013 season is FS Okoye Bozeman (5-10, 190). The talented and versatile prospect is a player to keep an eye on this fall and four schools are currently telling him they want to see what he can do...

Bozeman enjoyed a solid prep career at Bowie (Md.) High School and had an offer from a D-2 school, but he decided to go the JC route, giving himself a chance to play at the highest level possible.

"I wasn't able to qualify D-1, so a D-2 school was an option and I was thinking about doing that since I had an offer to one in West Virginia," Bozeman told "I decided to go to a JC just because I wanted to play at the highest level I could and my dad made a call to the coaches out here and when I met with them, they welcomed me with open arms and it just felt right."

As a freshman last season, Bozeman started every game for the Gila Monsters, totaling 59 tackles and one interception while playing mostly strong safety last season.

"I played mostly strong safety last season, but I also played some corner too," Bozeman noted. "This year I'm going to be playing free safety though, so that's something that I think I bring to the table -- I'm versatile -- and I feel confident that I'm an all-around guy who can play the pass and come up and play the run well too."

As far as recruiting is concerned, Bozeman doesn't have an offer yet, but he said a handful of schools have let him know that they will have their eyes on him this fall.

"This spring Indiana talked to me a little and Kansas State, UCF and Utah State started recruiting me a little too," Bozeman said. "All of them want to see me this fall, so I don't have any offers yet, but if I get off to a good start this year I think I will get some looks and hopefully some offers."

Bozeman is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2012 season.
