(UPDATED 9/26/12) A look at some of the top linebacker performances over the past week and which players are standing out for their team so far this season. This is by no means all-inclusive, but just a snapshot of some of the players who had big-time performances over the weekend...

Coffeyville LB Martrell Spaight - In five games so far this season, Spaight has racked up 74 tackles (48 solo) for the Red Ravens including eight tackles and 1.5 tackles-for-loss in Coffeyville's 38-19 win over Independence.


Independence LB Lawson Short - The Pirates haven't gotten off to a very good start, but Short has been solid from his linebacker spot posting 46 tackles and five interceptions including 12 tackles and one interceptions this past weekend in Indy's 38-19 loss to Coffeyville.


Northwest Mississippi LB Desmond Lavelle - LaVelle is off to a solid beginning to the season so far for NW Mississippi posting 35 tackles and four sacks to go along with an interception including last week's outstanding performance where he posted 3.5 tackles, two sacks and one interception in his team's 19-13 win over NE Mississippi.


Fresno LB Kyle Staples - Staples is having a solid season so far for the Rams, racking up 28 tackles and a sack in four games including last week's six tackle performance in Fresno City's 35-31 loss to City College of San Francisco.


City College of San Francisco LB Tyrone Ward - Ward leads CCSF in tackles with 27 to go along with one sack. Last week in their huge win over Fresno City, Ward racked up 10 tackles.


Citrus LB Maurice Dupleasis - In four games so far this season, Dupleasis leads Citrus with 36 tackles and is tied for the lead with 1.5 sacks including his 11 tackle effort last week in the Owls' 38-14 loss to Mt. San Antonio.


Santa Ana LB Marc Millan - Millan leads the Dons in tackles so far this season with 27 and also has three sacks in four games. Last week in their 34-31 loss to Grossmont, Millan posted eight tackles and had one sack in the loss while being named the Southern Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.


Santa Barbara LB Joel Medina - Medina had a huge game in Santa Barbara's 14-6 win over L.A. Valley last Saturday, racking up nine tackles, 2.5 tackles-for-loss and a sack.


Monterey Penninsula LB Kyle Todd - In three games, Todd has put up huge numbers, racking up 40 stops including an incredible 17 last week in his team's 33-26 win over Los Medanos.


El Camino LB Auston Johnson - Johnson had another huge game for the Warriors this past weekend, posting 11 tackles, 1.5 sacks and four tackles-for-loss while helping them to a 59-7 win over Long Beach. In four games this season, Johnson has totaled 48 tackles and 4.5 sacks from his linebacker spot.


L.A. Harbor LB Jeremy Lutali - In four games the talented freshman has totaled 33 tackles, good for second on the team, while forcing two fumbles and recovering two as well. Last week in the Seahawks' 31-7 loss to Riverside, Lutali racked up eight tackles.
