NJCAA Top 20 Poll Week #8

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The early season shuffling that gripped the first few weeks of the 2012 NJCAA football season subsided in Week 7. The top 15 ranked teams in the nation held serve with victories last week. Three teams in the Top 20 suffered defeats and only one lost to an unranked opponent.

A Look Back at Week 7's Top Matchup
#16 Dean (4-2) 14
#10 ASA (6-0) 69


What started as a highly-anticipated NFC showdown quickly got out of hand as No. 10 ASA blew out No. 16 Dean 69-14. The Avengers took an early 7-0 lead when sophomore running back Hosey Williams scampered 55 yards for the game's first touchdown. Things got out of hand in the second quarter when the Bulldogs of Dean were outscored 42-7 by ASA. Avengers freshman quarterback Daniel Pietrangelo threw for five touchdown passes, four of which went to sophomore wide receiver Ouslet Volcy. On the day, Volcy finished with eight catches for 250 yards. The ASA defense continued its dominance, holding the Bulldogs to 191 yards of total offense and just two yards on the ground. Dean freshman quarterback Trevor Volcey struggled all afternoon, completing only 13-of-33 pass attempts.
