(UPDATED 10/18/12) A look at some of the top linebacker performances over the past week and which players are standing out for their team so far this season. This is by no means all-inclusive, but just a snapshot of some of the players who had big-time performances over the weekend...

Grossmont LB Ian Seau - One of the top playmakers in the state on the defensive side of the ball, Seau has been a real force off the edge for the Griffs this season, leading the state (as well as the country) in sacks with 16.5 and also racking up 56 tackles. This past weekend, in Grossmont's 26-23 win over Golden West, Seau had 11 tackles, all solo, and three sacks on the day.

Fullerton LB Simon Poti - Poti had 14 tackles last week in the Hornets' 44-29 loss to Saddleback last week. This season the talented freshman has 30 tackles in six games.

Moorpark LB Chris Pinneri - The talented freshman filled up the stat sheet last week, posting three tackles, one batted pass, one forced fumble, one recovered fumble and one sack in Moorpark's 36-15 win over Pasadena.

Santa Ana LB Kameron Lavine - Santa Ana got a hard-fought 45-38 win over Orange Coast last weekend and Lavine, a freshman, was a big reason why posting eight tackles and two sacks.

Ventura LB P.J. Gremaud - Gremaud posted 10 tackles (six solo), one pass defensed, one forced fumble and had two critical interceptions to help VC get to 7-0 for only the second time in the program's history with a 44-37 win over College of the Canyons.

Mt. San Jacinto LB Julian Yearwood - The sophomore linebacker had a big game last week in Mt. San Jacinto's 44-9 win over Compton College, posting seven tackles and two sacks.

San Bernardino LB Jonathan Drake - The freshman outside linebacker had a solid game last week in SBV's 44-20 loss to Chaffey, racking up 10 tackles (four solo) one sack and 1.5 tackles for loss.

DeAnza LB Mark Borland - Borland had an outstanding game last week, posting 12 tackles, one sack and one tackle-for-loss in DeAnza's 46-39 loss to City College of San Francisco. This season the sophomore linebacker has 36 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss and one sack.

Diablo Valley LB Kyle Kragen - Kragen had seven tackles, 4.5 tackles-for-loss and three sacks in DVC's 49-21 win over Reedley last week. The sophomore 'backer has posted 46 tackles and 9.5 sacks so far this season while helping lead the Vikings to a 4-2 record.

Nassau LB Amara Kamara - Nassau remained perfect on the season, getting to 6-0, after downing Georgia Military 50-24 and Kamara was a big reason why posting an amazing 15 tackles, two passes defensed, one fumble recovery and one interception that he returned for a touchdown.

Hutchinson LB Brock Long - Long helped lead the Blue Dragons to a 75-0 win over Independence by racking up 13 tackles and half a sack.

Holmes LB Marquiz Edget - Edget had 11 tackles in Holmes' 32-20 loss to Northwest Mississippi. For the season, the sophomore has 33 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss and five sacks.

Kilgore LB Charles Woods - Kilgore dropped their first game of the season, losing the Northeastern Oklahoma 42-24, but don't blame Woods who posted 12 tackles and 4.5 tackles-for-loss. For the season, Woods leads the SWFCJC with 87 stops.

Trinity Valley LB DeVonte McMillian - McMillian ranks second in the conference with 65 tackles this season.

Scottsdale LB J.P. Grako - The sophomore has totaled 42 tackles and four sacks so far this season for the 'Chokes.

Ellsworth LB Irving Steele - The redshirt freshman has put up amazing tackle numbers so far this year, posting 82 tackles including 19 stops in last week's 24-17 win over Iowa Central extending the Panthers' winning streak to four games.

Northeast Mississippi LB J.R. White - Against fourth-ranked East Mississippi, White rotated in along the defensive line and posted seven tackles and two sacks. For the season, the talented linebacker has 40 tackles and three sacks.
