(10/24/2012) A look at some of the top defensive line performances over the past week and which players are standing out for their team so far this season. This is by no means all-inclusive, but just a snapshot of some of the players who had big-time performances over the weekend...

Santa Rosa DE Garrett Guanella - The sophomore defensive end had five tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss and an interception he took back 62 yards for a touchdown in Santa Rosa's 37-10 win over Foothill last weekend. Guanella leads the Bear Cubs with 60 tackles and 16 tackles-for-loss while also posting three sacks and the one interception so far this season.

DeAnza DE Ahron Jackson - Jackson has eight sacks to go along with 25 tackles and nine tackles-for-loss while helping lead DeAnza to a 4-2 record.

Sierra DE Devante Bond - Bond has been a beast for the Wolverines off the edge this season, posting 51 tackles, 10 sacks and an amazing 19 tackles-for-loss. Last weekend, the athletic sophomore posted nine tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles (one of which he recovered) in Sierra's 38-33 win over Modesto.

Feather River DE Marco Vereen - Very talented edge player for the Golden Eagles who posted a game-high 15 tackles last week to go along with a sack and three tackles-for-loss in Feather River's 33-6 loss to Sacramento. For the season, the sophomore has 36 tackles and two sacks.

College of the Siskiyous DE Sedric Watson - Had a solid game in the Eagles' 38-34 win over West Hills last weekend, posting three tackles, a sack, 1.5 tackles-for-loss and an interceptions he returned 38 yards for a touchdown.

Reedley DE Marcus Dallas - Dallas spent a lot of time in the Merced backfield last weekend, racking up six tackles, 2.5 tackles-for-loss, two sacks and two quarterback hurries on the day as Reedley downed Merced 52-38. So far this season, Dallas leads the way for the Tigers up front with 6.5 sacks while also posting 33 tackles and eight tackles-for-loss.

Cabrillo DE Michael Schuhe - The sophomore defensive end had a huge game for Cabrillo last weekend as he totaled 10 tackles, three tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks, but Cabrillo still fell to Hartnell 16-7. This season, Shuhe has totaled 47 tackles and four sacks.

Gavilan DE William Lee - Gavilan downed San Jose 30-27 and Lee's play on defense was a big reason why as the talented freshman posted seven tackles, one sack and two tackles-for-loss. Lee leads the Rams in tackles (54), sacks (6.5), tackles-for-loss (19) and forced fumbles (three) and has been a real menace for opposing offenses.

Saddleback DE Jake Belnap - In Saddleback's big 52-24 win over Orange Coast last week, Belnap tied for the team lead with seven tackles while also posting 2.5 sacks and one tackle-for-loss and earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the National Southern Conference.

Saddleback DE Marques White - Not to be outdone by his teammate, White also managed to post seven tackles and 2.5 sacks last week. For the season, White has been excellent off the edge for the Gauchos, posting 30 tackles, three sacks and an interception.

Bakersfield DE John Oglesby - The sophomore has really come on in the second-half of the regular season for the Gades and this past weekend he earned National Northern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors by racking up nine tackles (six solo), 1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles-for-loss as his team got a 31-3 win over Moorpark to get to 4-2. This season, Oglesby has posted 38 tackles, three sacks and 6.5 tackles-for-loss.

Lackawanna DE Felix Small - Small had four sacks to go along with six tackles in Lackawanna's 48-10 win over Monroe last week. Small leads the Falcons with 8.5 sacks and ranks second on the team with 10 tackles-for-loss while also posting 22 tackles.

New Mexico Military DE Denzel Philip - Philip has been a real force for the Broncos this season leading the team in sacks (seven) and tackles-for-loss (9.5) while also ranking third in tackles with 46 stops.

East Mississippi DL Za'Darius Smith - Smith has 7.5 sacks this season to go along with 39 tackles and four forced fumbles.

Butler DT Ufomba Kamalu - Last week in Bulter's 45-13 win over Coffeyville, Kamalu was solid posting seven tackles and two tackles-for-loss as well as a half a sack. The big sophomore, who can play almost anywhere along the defensive line has racked up 37 tackles and 1.5 sacks so far this season for the Grizzlies.

North Dakota College of Science DT Derek Butcher - Butcher has done exactly what his coaches have asked of him this season, holding strong at the point-of-attack and getting penetration on occasion posting 53 tackles, three sacks and nine tackles-for-loss.

Mississippi Gulf Coast DT Sherman Boyd - Boyd holds down the nose tackle spot for the Bulldogs and has put up impressive numbers so far this season as a freshman, totaling 28 tackles and a sack while despite being double-teamed most of the time.
