(11/14/2012) A look at some of the top defensive line performances over the past week and which players are standing out for their team so far this season. This is by no means all-inclusive, but just a snapshot of some of the players who had big-time performances over the weekend...

L.A. Harbor DE Taylor Bongiovanni - Bongiovanni had a solid game for the Seahawks last weekend, posting seven tackles, three tackles-for-loss, two sacks and he also forced fumble in L.A. Harbor's 36-21 win over Citrus last weekend. The freshman defensive end has racked up 26 tackles, five tackles-for-loss and three sacks on the season.


Mt. San Antonio DE Tutulepeata Mataele - Mataele totaled for 6 tackles, two sacks and three quarterback hurries in the Mounties' 25-0 win over Riverside. The sophomore leads the team in sacks (10) and tackles-for-loss (14) while also posting 37 tackles.


West L.A. DE Kaylyn Ayers - Ayers notched six tackles, four tackles-for-loss, two sacks, one fumble recovery and one quarterback hurry in West L.A.'s 52-6 win over Santa Barbara last Saturday. The sophomore defensive end leads the team in tackles (61), sacks (eight) and tackles-for-loss (17) this season.


West L.A. DE James Nora - Not to be outdone by his teammate, Nora racked up six tackles, two tackles-for-loss, two sacks, one pass defensed and one quarterback hurry in West L.A.'s win over Santa Barbara. This season, the freshman has totaled 31 tackles, three sacks and 6.5 tackles-for-loss.


Saddleback DE Jake Belnap - Belnap totaled seven tackles, one sack, one tackle-for-loss and one forced fumble as the Gauchos got a 48-10 win over Golden West last weekend. He leads the team in sacks with six while also posting 12 tackles-for-loss and 36 tackles overall.


Palomar DT Shiane Tupua - In the Comets' 33-28 win over Grossmont last weekend, Tupua had a big game totaling eight tackles and two sacks to go along with three tackles-for-loss. So far this season, the talented sophomore has posted 37 tackles, three sacks and six tackles-for-loss as well as a blocked field goal.


Citrus DE Vincent Gardella - Gardella had six tackles, one sack, and three tackles for a loss in Citrus' 36-21 loss to LA Harbor. The freshman has had a solid season for the Owls this fall, posting 34 tackles, two sacks and six tackles-for-loss.


Southwestern DE Jalal Yousofzai - The freshman has had a great season for the Jags this year, posting 22 tackles, six sacks and nine tackles-for-loss.


Mendocino DE Brett Bowers - Bowers had a terrific game last week racking up five tackles, two sacks, two tackles-for-loss and two forced fumbles, but Mendocino still lost to Yuba 24-9. This season, Bowers has totaled a team-leading 16.5 sacks to go along with 44 tackles and 23 tackles-for-loss.


Hartnell DE Kapil Fletcher - One of the top freshman defensive ends in northern California, Fletcher has had a solid season racking up 35 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 11 tackles-for-loss. Last week, in Hartnell's 28-3 loss to Monterey Peninsula, Fletcher posted nine tackles, half a sack and 1.5 tacklers-for-loss.


American River DE Kimo Seau - Seau, a freshman, posted two tackles, two sacks and a two tackles-for-loss in the Beavers' 52-13 win over Sierra last Saturday. While seeing limited reps so far this season, Seau has put up solid numbers posting 17 tackles and five sacks in eight games.


Fresno DE Taylor Ferguson - Ferguson had four tackles, one sack and one tackle for loss in Fresno's 31-0 win over College of the Sequoias last week. This season, the sophomore has totaled 24 tackles and two sacks from his defensive end spot.


Modesto DE Timmy Barnard - In Modesto's 48-37 loss to San Joaquin Delta, Barnard posted six tackles, 2.5 sacks and 2,5 tackles-for-loss. This season the sophomore has been solid from his defensive end spot, racking up 37 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 10 tackles-for-loss.


Butte DE Damien Borel - Borel was integral in Butte's 31-21 win over City College of San Francisco last week, posting six tackles, two sacks and three tackles-for-loss. The sophomore has racked up 63 tackles, 18 sacks and 34 tackles-for-loss so far this season.


Butler DE Ufomba Kamalu - Kamalu posted five tackles, 1.5 sacks and a fumble recovery as Butler posted a 26-16 win over Hutchinson, setting themselves up for a chance at a National Championship as they face off against top-ranked Iowa Western on December 1st. The sophomore has 40 tackles, 4.5 sacks and nine tackles-for-loss on the season.


Iowa Western DT Jordan Heiderman - Heiderman posted three tackles, one sack and 1.5 tackles-for-loss in Iowa Western's 54-7 win over Ellsworth last weekend. The talented interior defensive line prospect has had a solid sophomore season for the Reivers so far, totaling 39 tackles, 4.5 sacks and nine tackles-for-loss.


Scottsdale DT Raynon Blackshire - The freshman had four tackles, one sack and a one tackle-for-loss in Scottsdale's 71-29 win over Phoenix College last weekend. This season, while working in the Artichokes' defensive line rotation, Blackshire has racked up 38 tackles, three sacks and 4.5 tackles-for-loss.


Glendale DE Sean Fugate - Fugate had a solid season for Glendale, notching 26 tackles, four sacks and seven tackles-for-loss.


Central Lakes DE Peter Stenger - Stenger had a very good season, posting a team-leading 7.5 sacks to go along with 49 tackles and 13 tackles-for-loss, while helping to lead the Raiders to a 10-1 record.


Kilgore DT DeAngelo Brooks - While his teammate, freshman DE Cooper Washington, gets most of the stats, all Brooks has done this season is occupy blockers, freeing his teammates up to make plays from his interior spot while posting 44 tackles, 1.5 sacks and two tackles-for-loss.


Mississippi Gulf Coast DE Travis Taylor - Taylor posted 45 tackles, 4.5 sacks and three tackles-for-loss while helping lead the Bulldogs to a 9-2 record.


Hinds DE Dontrill Hyman - Hyman had a solid sophomore season for Hinds in 2012, posting 51 tackles, a team-leading 7.5 sacks and 4.5 tackles-for-loss.


Northeastern Oklahoma A&M DT Alex Villarreal - The freshman had a huge game last week in NEO's 62-24 loss to Navarro as he posted 16 tackles on the day. This season, Villarreal posted 77 tackles, two sacks and three tackles-for-loss for the Golden Norseman who are headed to the Citizen's Bank Bowl where they will face 15th-ranked College of DuPage.
