Butte College - Recruiting Update

Butte finished the season 10-1 and have several players who stood out during the season with their productivity. Today, offensive coordinator Robbie Snelling gives us a look at some of the top prospects on their team, how they did during the season and which schools are after them at this point in the recruiting process...

DE Damien Borel - "The guy is just a beast; an animal. He's impossible to stop. He was the Defensive Player of the Year in our conference this year and when you say that, you are talking about some of the top guys in the country. There are some big time guys in this conference and he was better than all of them. There's actually a chance he could end up being the state player of the year too, but we won't know that for a little while. Houston and Troy have offered him and there are a bunch more schools that want to offer, but they want to see his transcripts and see when he can get out. He can play any position he wants to play and do anything he wants to do on the field. He's that good."

Stats: 69 tackles, 19 sacks, 37 tackles-for-loss, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery

S Robby Kendall - "Robby won't wow you when he walks into the room. He isn't a physical specimen, but all he does is play football and he makes plays. He was All-Conference for us. He's got Sacramento State after him and a bunch of D-2 schools, but I think some people are really missing out on him. He could play in the WAC or Sun Belt pretty easily and maybe even in the Mountain West or Conference USA in the right system. The kid is smart and he's a hitter. He loves to play the game."

Stats: 84 tackles, 2 sacks, 10.5 tackles-for-loss, 1 fumble recovery, 3 interceptions, 7 passes defensed

LB John Batnich - "John was an All-Conference player for us this year. He's a really active guy. His real issue is his size. He's 6'0, 225 pounds, so some schools are a little scared to get in on him, but that's a mistake. He can play ball and he loves to get after it. He will get out in May, so he has some time."

Stats: 73 tackles, 4 sacks, 13.5 tackles-for-loss, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries

DL Cortreal Scott - "Cortreal is a great player and was another All-Conference guy. He's most likely going to get out in May. He's longer, like 6'3, 260, and he can play either end or even some defensive tackle because he's so strong. He's still waiting on some schools to come after him."

Stats: 49 tackles, 5 sacks, 8 tackles-for-loss

LB T.C. Robinson - "Another solid player for us. Robinson is a May guy and can play all three of the positions at linebacker."

Stats: 56 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 7 tackles-for-loss

S/LB Donzale Ashley - "He's one of those hybrid guys. He can play as a down safety or at an outside linebacker spot. He's real physical. He's a May guy."

Stats: 45 tackles, 1 sacks, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 2 interceptions, 5 passes defensed

CB Tevin Ivy - "A real versatile guy. He returns punts too, so he's real quick and he has great hands and he's explosive. He'll graduate in May."

Stats: 24 tackles, 1 interceptions, 9 passes defensed

CB Willie Creear - "Willie had a really good year for us. He's a mid-year guy (December). He benches 365 so he's strong and he's a really good kid with good grades. He's still waiting on some offers, but I've personally talked to New Mexico, Oregon State and Boise State about him and coach (Jeff) Jordan has talked to Maryland about him."

Stats: 28 tackles, 2 interceptions, 5 passes defensed

RB Cameron Mikell - "Cameron had a great year for us. We really ran the ball a lot and he split the carries, but he had a really good season. He's smaller and quicker. Because he's a May guy, right now it's mostly FCS programs calling about him, but he's got the skills to play FBS ball pretty easily. He was All-Conference for us and was really big in a couple of games."

Stats: 1,099 yards rushing, 5 TDs; 9 receptions, 134 yards, 2 TDs

RB Derek Seward - "Derek was a really pleasant surprise for us this year. He was All-Conference. He's a bit of a bigger back and he can really grind it out on you, but he's got enough speed to get outside too and do some damage out there. He's a May guy, so schools are waiting on him a little."

Stats: 923 yards rushing, 11 TDs; 8 receptions, 70 yards

FB Tyler McIntyre - "Tyler was a two-year starter for us and a big reason we were able to rush for about 220 yards on the ground per game. He has an offer from Bryant Univeristy and South Dakota State is really interested in him. He's a really good player."

TE Geoff Swaim - "He's committed to Texas and he'll be a great fit there. He didn't put up big numbers in our offense because we just ran it so much, but he was a big key to us being such a good running team. He's a great blocker and he's a good receiver too, we just didn't use him that way."

Stats: 11 receptions, 88 yards, 3 TDs

OL Avery Poates - "He's a bounceback from Nevada and, at least at this point, that's what he's planning to do -- go back there. He had a great season for us. He was All-Conference. He's in the same class athletically as Charles Sidoway and Danny Watkins. A ton of schools have called and asked about him and asked for film on him."

OL Kevin McIntyre - "He was another All-Conference guy for us. He's a mid-year guy and he's got good grades too (2.8 GPA). Northern Colorado has offered him and some other schools are after him now too."

P Leon Holderhead - "He's a great punter. He's from Austrailia and he's 28, so, for some reason, that has scared some people off, but man, the kid can play ball. He has a big leg and he's got great touch too. Someone needs to offer this kid. He's got a great attitude and a great work ethic."

Stats: 51 punts, 37.1 avg, long of 60 yards, 20 inside the 20, 18 fair catches
