Frosh JUCO OL already seeing offers roll in

We haven't even closed out the 2013 recruiting class yet, but already, several schools have gotten a jump on the next JUCO recruiting class as they have already offered Nassau OT Chad Mavety (6-6, 320), a freshman prospect who promises to be one of the top recruits in the country in the 2014 recruiting cycle...

"I have offers from Virginia Tech, Miami, North Carolina State, Syracuse and Kansas right now and my coaches just talked to USC so I think they could be next," Mavety told JCFootball.com. "I've also been speaking to a lot of other schools and they all want to offer, but they said they want to finish up with the class they are currently working on and then they will start giving out offers after that is settled."

As a freshman this past season, Mavety started two games at left tackle and the rest of the season at right tackle for the Lions.

"I'm definitely a better run-blocker right now, but I don't think I'm bad at pass-blocking," Mavety said. "I like to get out on the second-level and get to the linebackers. With my size, when I get on them, they can't get me off of them and that opens up things for our running game."

As a prep, Mavety enjoyed a solid career at Sparta (NJ) High School, but was unable to qualify for a scholarship, so he decided to enroll at the best school he could find.

"I had heard they were a good program, but it wasn't until I met the coaches that I really was sold on the program," Mavety said. "They really sold me on how I could get my academics right and play some ball and get ready for the next level."

Mavety is on pace to graduate in December so he can be a mid-year signee and he will have three years to play two following the 2013 football season.
