Wilder makes his choice

One of the top JUCO corner still left on the board, L.A. Pierce's Howard Wilder (6-0, 190), made his decision today and he updated JCFootball.com on why he chose South Florida over a host of other BCS programs...

"I committed to USF today," an excited Wilder told JCFootball.com. "I like the new staff they have in there and they have big plans for me."

Wilder visited South Florida back in December and said when he called the coaches to tell them of his decision, they couldn't have been happier.

"They said they've been waiting for a long time for me to commit," Wilder said with a chuckle. "They were really happy. They want me to play corner and to play press (coverage) so it's a perfect fit for me."

Wilder chose the Bulls over offers from the likes of Arizona State, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Missouri and Wisconsin among others.

"I'm pretty much done," Wilder, who had a visit scheduled to Kentucky this weekend, said. "I don't think I'm taking any more visits. I'm happy with my decision."

Wilder will sign with USF in February and will graduate in May. He will have three years to play two starting this fall.
