Kassem has some options

A prospect that has seen things pick up over the past couple of weeks is ASA OL Ali Kassem (6-7, 350). He has already hauled in offers from four schools and he's got several other schools that have shown some interest...

After finishing out a solid prep career at Moeller (Cincinnati, Oh.) High School, Kassem signed with Western Michigan, but after a year there, he decided to look for a fresh start.

"I just didn't enjoy it there," Kassem told JCFootball.com recently. "I thought I could play at a higher level, so I took a year off and then I came here to ASA.

"It's a good program and it was in the city (Brooklyn, NY) so I thought it was a good place for me to get some playing time and show schools what I could do."

Kassem started every game for ASA this past season, he first seven games at right guard and then moved out to tackle for the last four games after an injury forced the move.

"I felt pretty comfortable out there, but I can play inside or outside, it doesn't really matter to me," Kassem said.

Following the completion of the Gladiators' season, Kassem started to see recruiting pick up and now he has four offers and more could be on the way.

"I have offers from North Carolina State, Akron, Kent State and UT-San Antonio," Kassem said. "I've also been talking a lot with Ohio State, Florida State, Auburn, Rutgers, Vanderbilt and Cal.

"I'm visiting N.C. State on February 1st and I've been talking to Rutgers about visiting," Kassem said. "I'm hoping to take a couple of visits before I sign with a school, but I am definitely happy with the opportunities I have in front of me right now."

Kassem is on pace to graduate in May and he will have two years to play two wherever he ends up.
