Kassem headed to Rutgers

ASA OL Ali Kassem (6-7, 350) went a bit unnoticed in the early part of the recruiting process, but as time went along, his stock rose and he had several schools offering him and wanting him to visit. This past weekend he made took his second official visit, but after returning home, he decided to commit to the first school he visited...Rutgers...

"I committed to Rutgers this morning," Kassem told JCFootball.com. "I visited North Carolina State over the weekend and I had a really great time, but in the end, I decided to commit to Rutgers."

Kassem chose the Scarlet Knights over offers from N.C. State, Akron, Kent State and UT-San Antonio.

"They were just the right fit," Kassem said. "My brother will play here at ASA when I leave and I wanted to be close enough to see him play if we have a weekend off or whatever and also, the support at Rutgers is amazing and they really value the football team and the tradition they have there."

At 6'7" and weighing over 350 pounds, Kassem was, quite literally, one of the biggest prospects left on the board and he said when he committed that the Rutgers coaches knew exactly where they wanted to start him out.

"They were really excited and they were like 'well, we got our right tackle'," Kassem said. "I'll play anywhere, but I feel like right tackle is a great fit for me."

Kassem will sign his letter-of-intent on Wednesday and after he finishes this semester at ASA he will have three years to play two when he arrives on campus this summer.
