Henry will show his versatility this year

A player prepared to show his versatility this coming football season is L.A. Pierce LB/S Martin Henry (6-0, 213). After a solid season as a redshirt freshman at outside linebacker this past season, he's prepared to move back to the secondary and he's hard at work getting ready to make as big of an impact as he can this fall...

As a prep, Henry enjoyed a solid football career at Bishop Mc Devitt High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but he didn't get a lot of attention from FBS schools, so he signed with Robert Morris and spent his freshman season there.

"I just felt like I could play at a higher level," Henry told JCFootball.com. "I had some friends who were out here at Pierce and I thought it would be a great chance for me to come out here and to get moved on to a bigger school. A place where I felt like I could make a difference."

As a redshirt freshman this past season, Henry played sparingly, totaling seven tackles and a sack from his outside linebacker position and this year, his coaches have plans to move him back to the secondary to take advantage of his cover skills and open-field tackling ability.

"I played outside linebacker, but I'm getting ready to move back and play safety or rover in our scheme," Henry said. "I'm excited about it. It should be fun and if I can help my team, then I definitely want to get on the field and help them out wherever I can."

On the recruiting front, Henry already has one offer and he's got several schools eyeing him.

"I have an offer right now from Florida A&M," Henry said. "West Virginia, East Carolina, Colorado State, Miami and Kansas have been talking to me.

"The Texas Tech coach moved on to Cincinnati and he had been talking to me a lot and now he's on me for Cincinnati, so that's another school that's after me."

Henry is a good student and will have his AA degree by the end of summer, but he plans to return to Pierce and play there this fall and then sign with a school in December. He will have two years to play two wherever he ends up.
