Early SEC offer comes in for Hutchinson DB

After a solid freshman season this past fall, Hutchinson CB Shattle Fenteng (6-2, 175) has already hauled in his first offer and a couple of other schools are after him as well. JCFootball.com caught up with the talentd defensive back recently and he updated us on how things have gone so far this offseason...

"I have an offer from Ole Miss right now. They offered me sometime last week," Fenteng told JCFootball.com. "They said they watched my film and loved the way I played and that's why they were offering.

"I've also been talking to Texas Tech and they said basically the same stuff that Ole Miss did, so they could be my second offer here pretty soon."

As a freshman this past season, Fenteng played corner for the Blue Dragons and led the team with 12 passes defensed while also hauling in three interceptions and 57 tackles.

"Up until my senior season in high school, I had only played wide receiver, so last year was only my second year of playing corner," Fenteng noted. "I'm still sorta learning the position so I think that's what schools like about me. I still have a ways to go to improve."

Fenteng graduated from Grayson (Ga.) High School, but was unable to qualify, so he decided to head to Hutchinson.

"My coach told me it was the best program I could go to and they have a reputation for getting guys moved on to D-1 programs, so that's what made it easy to come here," Fenteng said.

In addition to his work on the football field, Fenteng has also gotten it done in the classroom. He is on pace do graduate in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2013 football season.
