"A lot of schools don't know that I was a full-qualifier, so I'm actually available right now if the right situation came up," Jackson told JCFootball.com. "If the right school came after me and I felt like it was something I couldn't pass up then I would definitely think about leaving."
As a freshman this past season, Jackson played the three-tech spot and posted 30 tackles, 4.5 tackles-for-loss and one sack, displaying his outstanding lower-body strength and quickness on a weekly basis.
"I'm smart and I read plays well," Jackson noted. "People underestimate my speed and quickness because I'm a big guy, but I've got a quick first step and that helped me make plays in the backfield."
As a prep at Beverly Hills (Ca.) High School, Jackson had a solid career, but wasn't really recruited.
"I had an offer from an NAIA school, but I felt like I could play at a higher level," Jackson said.
At this point, the only school showing him interest is VMI and he said even they have yet to extend an offer.
"I'm still talking to them and they seem to like me, but they want to get through spring ball before they do anything," Jackson said. "That's probably what a lot of schools are doing, so I'm hoping that I can find a home, but I have no problem coming back here to El Camino. The coaches here are great and I really like the fact that we play against a lot of talented guys, in practice and in games, so it's getting me ready for the next step, whenever that happens."
As noted earlier, Jackson can leave at any time and if he were to sign with a school this year, he would have four years to play three. However, if he returns to El Camino, he would play there this fall and then sign with a school in December with three years to play two.
We will continue to keep track of Jackson's recruitment over the next couple months and we will update news on him as it happens.
