Blow and Barnwell are still looking for homes

Unfortunately, talented JUCO prospects fall through the cracks of the recruiting world and are left in the spring of their sophomore years looking for a home. That is the case with Allan Hancock running backs Marcell Blow and Chris Barnwell and head coach Kris Dutra told that a school that takes a chance on either of them could wind up striking gold...

Marcell Blow: "We really thought that Marcell was going to be able to come back this fall and that's why we really didn't put his name out there. In 2011, which was his freshman season, we thought he was going to get a redshirt because he was injured on the first play of our third game. His parents and I sorta sat down and we said that he needed to present a hardship to get a medical redshirt and they decided to hold him out thinking it would be granted, but then we found out after this season that he wouldn't get it so we've sorta been scrambling to find him a place to play. He's got outstanding lateral movement. He's probably even quicker than Cameron (Artis-Payne), our All-American, was and he's very explosive. I think he could be a real steal for anyone that is looking for a running back to come in and play right away. He could easily play at the FBS level, but I think most schools are going to be scared away by his size (5'8", 200) which is a shame because he's a real player."

Chris Barnwell: "He's a big-back that we really used a lot more as a tailback than as a fullback, but in high school, when he came out of Georgia, he was a fullback and a really talented kid. His problem was, after 2010 when he led us in rushing with over 600 yards, he went home during the summer and he wound up being one credit short to be eligible. He's a good student, so it wasn't grades, but he was a credit short because he didn't have enough classes and credits, so he sat out the 2011 season getting eligible and them Cameron took over and Chris sorta had trouble getting carries. His first year here he was an All-Conference player, so he's definitely got all of the ability you're looking for. He lost some weight over the offseason and played last year at about 200 and we told him to get the weight back on because he's better playing around 210 or 215. He'd be a real steal for anyone looking for a big, bruising guy."
