Recruiting Blog - 5/13

More and more offers are rolling out and more and more JUCO prospects are starting to emerger as players to keep an eye on over the next few months. Here's a look at the latest news with several prospects including L.A. Pierce OT Justin Scott who is now up to four offers with more likely on the way soon...

L.A. Pierce OT Justin Scott - Scott has a long, lean frame with plenty of room to add size. He's athletic and he's faced the toughest pass-rushers the Southern California JUCO ranks have had to throw at him. So far Scott has offers from Portland State, Wyoming, West Virginia and Cincinnati and he's getting heavy interest from the likes of Kansas, Ohio State, Tennessee and Michigan State.

Santa Ana DT Jeff Worthy - Worthy is a bounceback from Boise State and will play for the Dons this fall. He already has offers from Colorado and Fresno State and has several other sniffing around. Worthy will graduate in December and will have three years to play two following the 2013 football season.

North Dakota State College of Science WR Claude Garrett - Garrett continues to be one of the more underrated receiver stars emerging this year so far. He recently received his first offer, from South Alabama, and schools like Illinois, Akron, Boise State, New Mexico State and Toledo appearing to be close to extending full rides. As a freshman last season, Garrett hauled in 23 receptions for 447 yards and five touchdowns. He's big and physical, built more like a running back than a wideout, but he's got soft hands and enough speed to get behind most defenses.

Pearl River WR TyShean Norris - Smith is a physically gifted wideout with a lot of talent and last season, in limited chances he posted 15 receptions for 200 yards and two scores while playing in seven games. This fall, he's been working on getting faster and quicker and adding strength to his frame. He doesn't have an offer yet, but schools like Marshall, Illinois and Southern Miss have all been by and have been talking to him. As long as he gets all of his classes in this summer, he will graduate in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2013 football season.

North Dakota State College of Science RB Lamont Osborn - Osborne rushed for 534 yards and three scores while hauling in 17 receptions for 232 yards and two more touchdowns as a freshman in 2012. Schools from the MAC, Sun Belt, Mountain West and WAC have all made inquiries, but he's still waiting on that first offer.

College of DuPage RB Tyreis Thomas -

While leading his team with 568 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground, Thomas got noticed by schools that were scouting 2013 prospects. He's got a great frame (5'11, 200) and good speed and he can run inside or outside. Schools will start to give him longer looks after seeing him this spring and he could see some offers start to roll in soon thereafter.
Hudson Valley RB Jay'Metric Tucker - Hudson Valley doesn't produce a lot of D-1 talent, but Tucker is a player already getting some attention from schools including Colorado and Temple. He's more of a scatback due to his size (5'8, 180), but he's a tough runner with good speed and he can make his yards inside the tackles just was well as he can outside.

Mississippi Delta DE Kendrell Canada - Canada totaled 42 tackles, one sack and two fumble recoveries as a freshman in 2012. He's probably a better fit on the strongside because he plays the run so well, but with another year of refining his pass-rush, he could prove to be versatile enough to play on either side.

Laney LB Chris Lee - Lee is an absolute beast and had a great freshman season for Laney in 2012, posting a team-leading 60 tackles and 12 tackles-for-loss while also racking up one sack, one fumble recovery and one interception. He can play inside or outside and has schools already eyeing his talents.
