First offer comes in for Brown

As one of the top ball-hawking defensive backs in the country, Grossmont CB Kweishi Brown (6-0, 185) is already on the radars of several schools, but it wasn't until recently that an SEC program became the first to extend and offer his way. JCFootball.com caught up with the talented corner and he updated us on where things stand in the recruiting process as well as how his first offer cam to be...

"I got my first offer a couple of weeks ago actually," Brown told JCFootball.com. "Arkansas had come by and talked to me and watched my tape and they liked me a lot. Then I got a call from them and they offered me.

"Oh I was really excited about it. It was great to get that first offer and I am really excited about the opportunity to play in the SEC, but I wasn't close to committing or anything. I want to take my time."

In addition to his offer from the Razorbacks, Brown has also been hearing from the likes of Washington, Washington State, Nevada, Kentucky, Kansas and Illinois among others.

"Everyone likes me at corner and that's where I feel comfortable playing," Brown said earlier this year. "I'm probably at my best playing zone just because I can read routes well and I make breaks on the ball when it's in the air. I have good ball-skills. That's always been something I was able to do - I led my high school team in picks as a senior - so it's a big part of my game.

"I like playing press too though and this offseason I've been working on my footwork and I want to be quicker so that's been a focus for me."

As a freshman in 2012, Brown totaled 28 tackles, two tackles-for-loss and he led his team with eight passes defensed and seven interceptions.

Brown is on pace to graduate next May and he will have three years to play two following the 2013 football season.
