Four offers and counting for Hayes

Playing left tackle for Bulter is both harrowing and rewarding. On a daily basis, Luke Hayes (6-6, 290) faced off against some very good pass-rushers, but that has helped him to hone his skills and because of that, he already has four offers to his name and more could be on the way soon...

Hayes prepped at a small school in Scott City, Kansas, so he wasn't very heavily recruited, but when he got the opportunity to come to play for Butler, he knew it was the right opportunity for him.

"The program here has a history that is pretty impressive," Hayes told "They play against top teams every week and they do a good job of getting guys moved on to the next level."

As a freshman this past fall, Hayes played sparingly behind two very experienced lineman, however, this year he's already been told that he will be on the left side of the line.

"During the spring I played both right and left tackle, but my coaches have said that I'm going to be over on the left side this year," Hayes noted. "I don't really care honestly. I'm good as both a pass-blocker and as a run-blocker, so I don't really care where I play."

With his prototypical size and outstanding athleticism, Hayes has already pulled in four offers and more could be coming in very soon.

"Right now, my offers are from Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor and Kentucky," Hayes said. "I've also been talking a lot with Michigan State, North Carolina State, Arizona State and Arizona."

While he's already got several good offers to look at, Hayes said he's in no hurry and hopes to make it all the way until the end of the year before he decides.

"Honestly, I want to take it to December and then make my decision after I take my visits," Hayes admitted. "As far as what I'm looking for, I'd like to find a place with a talented program, a place where I could play right away and a place where the players and the coaches are really close and back each other up."

Since he was a full-qualifier out of high school, Hayes can leave at any time, but he plans to return to Butler this fall and he will have three years to play two following the 2013 football season.
