Scott commits to West Virginia

It didn't take long for L.A. Pierce OT Justin Scott (6-6, 285) to warm up to playing Big 12 football. Shortly after returning home from his official visit to Morgantown, he made his decision and he committed to West Virginia earlier today...

"I committed to West Virginia earlier this morning," a happy Scott told JCFootball.com. "I took my official visit there on Monday and got back last night and just decided I had seen enough.

"I liked the collegiate feel of the town, the academic support they have there and I have been a fan of them for a while and they have a great program and I just wanted to be part of it.

"They are also losing four or five linemen to graduation next year, so that means there will be a spot for me to come in and compete for and that's all you can really ask."

Scott's host on his visit was (Marquis) Lucas and the two spent some time together and that too helped the Mountaineers' cause.

"He was a good guy. I liked him a lot," Scott said. "It's just the overall feel of the program and how the players bonded and I just wanted to be part of it."

As far as offers are concerned, Scott said he had full rides from the likes of Kansas, Cincinnati, Portland State, Texas-San Antonio, Washington State and Wyoming.

"I am still planning to take some officials to other schools and I'd like to get back out (to West Virginia) to see a game for an unofficial if I can, but we'll have to see how that all works out," Scott said.

Scott is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2013 football season.
