NJCAA Game of the Week

#1 Mississippi Gulf Coast (2-0) at #8 Hinds (2-0) Thursday, 6:30 p.m. (CT)

The top-ranked team in the country will face their first major test of the 2013 season when No. 1 Mississippi Gulf Coast travels to #8 Hinds on Thursday. Last season, Mississippi Gulf Coast cruised to a 41-28 win over the Eagles.

At the heart of the Bulldogs' elite secondary is freshman safety Braden Byrd who has a team-high 20 tackles.

Led by freshman quarterback James Summers, the Hinds Eagles head into Thursday night with their sights set on beating the Bulldogs for the first time since 2004. Summers has thrown for 314 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 189 yards and five touchdowns. Hinds boasts a pair of stellar running backs – sophomore Greg Foster and freshman Tommy McCalpin – who have combined for 315 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
